Re: Gibson Flying V Restoration

To start from the beginning, I purchased this 1980 Gibson Flying V from a friend around 12 years ago, pulled the strings off, and tossed it in a closet. About 7 months ago, I was on the phone with my old friend Jeff Head of Head Guitars, (Jeff And I designed and built custom high end car audio systems together); I was asked if I still had the V. After a brief conversation about what I had dreamed the guitar would be some day, Jeff asked me if I would ship it to him and let him do a full restoration. As I said previously, after working with Jeff and watching him build some amazing custom sound systems, I shipped it ASAP!!!!  As for the results, WOW!!!! I realize the pictures on Jeff's site tell most of the story, yet I wish I had pics of the V when I purchased it, and the miracle that Jeff performed would be even more obvious!!! The prep work on the body is flawless, and the new hand made Bubinga fret board is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! Jeff even worked on saving the OEM hardware that was salvageable, though parts like the tuners were pitted and chipping, the saddle and bridge were somehow brought back to life. I would also like to comment that this guitar plays every bit as good as it looks!! I can't stop playing it!!!! As for customer service, well my experience was exactly what I had expected and exactly what I had read about from other customers. I received constant e-mails and photos updating the entire process. At this point I assume it is very apparent I am extremely happy with the work that was done by Jeff at Head Guitars, but in case you are not sure, check back for the next restoration project, I am already searching!!!!!

p.s. Thank You to Jeff and Barbara Head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
